Hidden among the skyscrapers of Gangnam, Bongeunsa Temple is a rare oasis of tranquility in the city, and it's well worth a visit since admission is free. The traditional Korean temple architecture is elegant and rustic, and the giant Maitreya Buddha in the courtyard is both gentle and solemn—standing before it brings a sense of inner peace. The temple grounds are filled with lush old trees, making every photo look great, and there's a lovely custom of stacking stones to make wishes, which adds a nice touch of ritual. There's a small gift shop with a wide variety of prayer accessories, and you can even try some light vegetarian noodles if you get tired. It's not too crowded and doesn't feel overly commercialized, making it a perfect place to stroll between the halls and experience Korean Buddhist culture. With a bustling commercial district on one side and a peaceful ancient temple on the other, I highly recommend visiting here to relax and take some photos.
